Zana Bayne’s Fall 2013 Collection: Sci-Fi Boudoir

by Colleen Nika   |

Zana Bayne has quickly made a name for herself as the high priestess of intricate leather accoutrements. Influenced by bondage culture and luxury fashion simultaneously, she’s created harnesses, belts, and bootstraps that fit in as well at a suffocating Berghain rave as in Vogue Italia. She’s also collaborated with Prabal Gurung as well as established herself as an emergent presence on the Paris design scene – not always easy for a young American. Given the dual-gendered nature of her collections, Bayne took advantage of last week’s Paris menswear shows, presenting her Fall 2013 collection in showroom and video forms. She’s really upped her game yet again: not only do her pieces feel more sophisticated and ‘special’, her collaborator Char Alfonzo has created a video worthy of her sci-fi boudoir appeal. We love the flickering lights, the warehouse, the impending sense of chaos and danger, Fincher-esque mood of it all. Bonus points for Von Haze soundtracking it. Check it out above.
