Word Has It: Arcade Fire In The Studio With James Murphy

In many ways, alternative music in the mid-2000s felt dominated by two acts: Arcade Fire and LCD Soundsystem. They could not have been more different — yet they often shared stages. Now, with the latter act retired, and the former indie veterans, they are in a position with nothing to lose — this is where things get experimental and exciting. Pitchfork reports that LCD’s James Murphy is in the studio with the Canadian guitar heroes right this very day, with DFA tweeting yesterday: “This is going to be one great sounding album!” How could it not be? We don’t know the name, the release date — nor have we heard any of the actual music yet — but in our heads, this is probably the 2013 album to beat.
