SXSW Focus: Ray-Ban Boiler Room Bass Blitz

Boiler Room has become a highly popular institution within European dance communities, providing a weekly portal into the live sets of some of world’s freshest DJs and producers. The program crosses over the Atlantic this week, setting its sights on the SXSW stage and collaborating with Ray-Ban to produce a one-off spectacular. And what a line-up: post-hardcore rap deviants Death Grips, juvenile terror Chief Keef, Mount Kimbie, Skream, Lunice, Shlohmo — these aren’t names you are apt to find side by side at any venue around the world, let alone the US. A sterling combination of bass, funky, and deep electronic artists, straight from a London bunker to an Austin warehouse — destined to be one of Saturday evening’s most popular events, especially since entry is free to the public (with RSVP).
