Street art and ballet? Well, why the hell not? Brooklyn-based duo FAILE, comprised of Patrick McNeil, and Patrick Miller, have joined the New York City Ballet’s NYB Art Series, in which the organization commissions artists to create original artwork inspired by their dancers. For this project, McNeil and Miller have created Les Ballets de Faile, a 40-foot tower constructed from painted and silkscreened wood panels adorned in imagery taken from the ballet company’s historical archives. ANIMAL caught up with the two and discussed the process that went behind this epic piece.
The art installation will be on display for the Art Series performance on February 1 and May 29, and each audience will receive a limited edition works that was made specifically for the event. It will also be available for viewing for ticketed patrons throughout the Winter season and during special gallery viewing hours for free From February 10-17.
