Singer & Songwriter Sean Blackthorn ‘Bedtime|Sleepless’

Surfacing out of what seems like the dark gray-scaled brooding pits of everyone’s soul where emotions are left untouched, tears unheard and hearts unhealed, comes Toronto-native singer songwriter Sean Blackthorn. To try and box the talented singer into a genre is probably best left up to the opinion of each listener. His use of minimal production and an organ piano transforms his soulful gospel-like melodic voice into sensual songs meant to be heard with candles illuminating lustful actions, or into weeping regretful tracks that seem to be an apologetic cry to the one(s) he’s hurt. What sets Blackthorn a part from other artists has got to be his lack of self-awareness in his recordings in that you can hear the nakedness and rawness in his songs as if he’s throwing salt on an open wound just before he records to prove to his fans his devotion to them and his artistry. Choosing to stay private and below the radar, Blackthorn releases are quality over quantity staying away from over saturation or mass appeal music. Keep a watch out, I definitely will be.
