Rudimental – ‘Spoons’ ft. MNEK & Syron

From the quartet that brought about the Feel the Love collaboration with John Newman that has affectionately been dubbed the sound of the summer 2012, the more recent track to date from Rudimental, Spoons, seems to edge away from the mainstream sing-a-long pop culture in favor of creating more of an ambient sound. Lacking the get-up-and-go vibe of the group’s first hit, the musical talent of Rudimental is still quite apparent in the production and arrangement of the sounds of Spoons.

The 19-year-old vocalist, Syron, boasts the sound of an awakening British nu-garage talent that I can’t say I’ve heard since the likes of .. I’m not quite sure who.
To compare her to someone like Katy B would be wrong. But almost right.

There’s something quite brilliant about Syron’s vocals, even if the heavily edited and resonant sounds that feature in the Rudimental track don’t quite do her the justice she deserves. Her solo tracks, which are to release this September, are most certainly worth a listen.
