Red’s ’31 Days of Creativity with Food’

Before March I could honestly say I had no interest in anyone’s Instagramed photos of their food. Malaysian-born and now Shanghai- based artist and architect Hong Yi, better known under the name Red, has changed my mind. Red recently started a project entitled 31 Days of Creativity with Food, creating mouthwatering illustrative scenes from edible supplies and uploading them straight to her Instagram account every day of the month. Recent foodtorials range from a reinterpretation of Katsushika’s The Great Wave of Kanagawa out of seaweed paper and rice to a Kenzo-esque tiger constructed from chopped carrots, white radishes and prunes. If only every other social media foodie had such an eye, we might be able to digest the foodgram phenom.
