Last night, CONTRA attended “Polaroids by Diego Uchitel” Opening Reception at Milk Studios in the Meatpacking District of New York City. Diego became fascinated with photography, but more specifically the human body in a medical sense – how it moves, how light hits it – and has been shooting people, mostly famous ones, for over twenty years. In honor of his new book, photographer Diego Uchitel held a show, featuring his Polaroid shots, some blown up to epic proportions, while other, actual sized images clustered together on the gallery’s giant white walls. Wine and pretty people, along with autographed books (for sale) by the author/artist himself, this was a night to remember a time when photo meant print and cameras were not attached to your phone. S/O to the always photogenic Milk crowd and crew.
