Paris Fashion Week – Chanel SS 2011

A Chanel show is almost as much about the clothes as it is about the SHOW itself.

Karl Lagerfeld has this way of making you totally anticipate him, no matter the occasion. That damn leather-clad genius. This year’s SS 2011 is obviously no exception. Before we even heard any kinds of review of the collection we’d learned that he’d thrown yet another extravagant event at the Grand Palais, with big names present, and return of infamous Chanel muse Ines de la Fressange.

While the great Karl brought a lot of the traditional Chanel tweed to the table, the shapes were definitely a wonderful modern twist on a classic suit favourite. But it’s really all in the details, and you can’t get past his use of feathers and tulle, proving the perfect plumage for springs flirty looks.

Aside from the usual attire, the speckled skinny jeans, water-colour prints, graphic patterns and monochromatic styling were perfect tens, and he broke up the pastel sweetness of his suits with leather leggings, motor cycle boots and his signature fingerless gloves.
