Mix of the Day: NHK’Koyxeи’s “Burning Up Mix” for URB

Gonzo Japanese sound sculptor Kouhei Matsunaga is on a winning streak, finding a new home on PAN, the veritable Berlin-based experimental label. In past the year, he’s released two great disjointed dance records (Dance Classics Vol. 1 and 2) as NHK’Koyxeи, broadening his highly specific appeal to a new and selective electronic audience. URB caught up with the producer for an interview and a wonderfully warped mix that includes his own deep cuts across various eras (and labels such as Skam and Raster-Noton). Let the jumbletronics begin! In Matsunaga’s words: “I tried to put together a wide selection of different projects and collaborations I did throughout these past years, from dub techno to electronic and even hiphop tracks featuring rappers like Google Premire (internet magic/puppetmastaz) and Sensational. Also included are experimental recordings with Mika Vainio (Pan Sonic) and Sean Booth (Autechre).” Download here and stream above.
