Legendary producer DJ Shadow has reportedly received an apology from Miami club Mansion for cutting short his set last week. As the now infamous footage (below) exhibits, Shadow is approached by a promoter halfway through his set – never a great omen – then pulls the plug on his set. He then stated, ‘I’ve waited a long time to play here, but they said this shit is too future for all y’all’. It’s worth nothing that fans had paid $30 to see Shadow perform as part of his All Bases Covered tour.
Deservedly, the electronic community erupted in outrage over the incident — especially as the act of crude censorship wasn’t the ultra-slick Miami venue’s first offense. But apparently, Mansion has suddenly seen the error of its ways, issuing this formal apology to DJ Shadow:
We offer our most sincere apologies to DJ Shadow and his fans for his set being cut short at Mansion this past weekend. This error should not have happened and will not happen again, especially as we pride ourselves on creating an environment that cultivates and respects innovators such as DJ Shadow. We have learned a lot from this error and made changes within our organization to ensure that Mansion’s vision, and the vision of our guests, will never be compromised again.
Meanwhile, Shadow has vowed to upload his ‘offending’ set to the internet public. The future is ours!
