Mel Kadel’s ‘Homemade Horse’ (Video)

In her new video Homemade Horse, illustrator Mel Kadel lightheartedly counts the ways that horses are awesome (Pegasus and unicorns), and the ways that they are not (seahorses). The video, a collaboration with animator Jim Dirschberger of Eighty Four Films, breathes life into the pastel veiled world Kadel has imagined in her past work. Known for her hand stained painted pieces, Homemade Horse showcases the intricate layers that are hard to fully appreciate in a static context. It’s also pretty cute.
