LFW Store Opening: Machine-A

Cool, culty and chock-full of fresh fashion, Machine-A is the newly revived concept store, newly opened in London’s West End. Operating at the intersection of avant-garde fashion, abstract art and and mass tourism, Machine-A is central London’s revived concept store offering a multi-faceted mélange of splendacious goodies.  At the helm of this rogue establishment are two of London’s most colorful swashbucklers–visionary retail veteran Stavros Karelis and his pretty as a painting partner and taste-maker extraordinaire, Anna Trevelyan.

Their aim is to showcase all the exquisite deviations and orphic oddness that delivered us to avant-garde fashion in the first place. And boy do they have a knack for it: Anna spent a good deal of time contributing to Dazed and regularly styles the world’s it-est singers and freak-stars; Stavros has been steeped in the arts from an early age and has a nous for offbeat artisanship. Ella Dror, a prominent London-based PR consultant, says “the combined effort of Stavros and Anna equates to a fashion retail proposition that is without rival…The store has the perfect balance of new blood and established names and occupies a unique niche in London fashion.”

At Machine-A, you’ll get the chance to mingle up close with the most coveted underground confections, from Gareth Pugh and Peiran Gong to the happy fetishistic weirdness of Hussein Chalayan, Nasir Mazhar, Sibling, Christopher Ræburn and Raf Simons. We particularly love AMBUSH, an accessories label specializing in eye-popping alien design offered exclusively through the store and we ♥♥♥ the scarcity items and one-offs from the graduate programs of CSM and the Royal College of Art. With 60+ square meters of selling space and brimming with dissident designers and all around sartorial sublimity, Machine-A is a unique beast, a delightful unpredictable hybrid of fashion, anti-fashion, art and commerce. Make sure to pop in next time you are in London’s West End.
