Inimigos by Gil Vicente

Currently exhibiting is Brazilian artist Gil Vicente’s “Inimigos” series at the 29th Sao Paulo International Biennial. In this charcoal series the artist portrays the assassination of many world leaders including Queen Elizabeth, George W Bush, Ariel Sharon, Pope Benedict XVI, Brazilian President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva, Ariel Sharon, former UN secretary general Kofi Annan, and Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad. The artists’ inspiration for these drawings came from his disappointment of the world leaders whom he saw as inflicting wrongs on the world with impunity. Images via ateliersubterranea (flickr)
