Hsiao-Ron Cheng Surrealist Paintings

Taipei-based artist Hsiao-Ron Cheng pretty much hits that spot in me that has a taste for the strange and all things unusual. A lot of her work reminds me of Mark Ryden with characters displaying a sullen, yet creepy expression that leaves you feeling unsettled, as well as the weird fantastical background that accompany the oddities on the canvas. Cheng does bring a softer touch to her color palette and she’s a slightly more subtle about the macabre/desolate themes in her work, though the physical deformities she presents may leave you thinking otherwise. A few of her pieces are available for sale online, so check them out if you’re interested in purchasing something.
