Holy Beauty Project
The first video in the most recent project of visual artist Rossina Bossio: The Holy Beauty Project, a series of artworks inspired by religious art and fashion, using different forms of media from painting and drawing, to video and performance. It is a merging of ancient icons from religious art and those of a more contemporary nature, like celebs, models, and ad campaigns, setting a parallel between old and new. In this way, Bossio, who reminds us a bit of Fellini, attempts to explore the seductive power of images, while bringing to our attention our inability to exist without hierarchies, and our constantly renewed need for idols, as a means of making sense out of life’s absurdity.
“The Holy Beauty Project is a satyr of seduction, a homage to my roots and the most ambitious creative journey I’ve embarked myself in. I invite you to join me!” – Rossina Bossio
This short film is Vol. 1 – implying 1 of many. Bossino plans to collaborate with other artists and designers, later organizing these into Volumes, each one including a film performance and a series of paintings.
