Hey Ocean! – Big Blue Wave (Official Music Video)

The youthful Vancouver-born trio Hey Ocean! look like they’ve stepped straight out of an Urban Outfitters ad. They have a sound that holds the undertones of The Postal Service’s harmonies, mixed with the mass-produced pop elements that made groups like Alphabeat have any sort of success.

As their following grows, so does my liking of the energetic song that simply irritated me on first listen. I now find myself “ooh-ing” along to the infectious repetition of the chorus and sample-listening to several of their tracks off their first album Is.

That said, Hey Ocean! actually have something quite “quirky” going on. They play their own instruments (from what I can tell) and they are surprisingly pretty decent, and certainly hold their own live. I’m undecided.
