Excellent Chicago minimalist duo Acteurs just released their debut album on the Public Information imprint – a release gaining a lot of buzz largely on the strength of this track above, “Cloud Generating.” A pleasingly punishing bare-bones exercise that mediates a line between techno and art rock (an exciting intersection, indeed), it was accurately described by Dummy’s Ruth Saxelby as one of the most anxiety-invoking pieces of music she’d ever heard. If it’s audio masochism for some, it feels like a reward to us. Superb stuff, and recommended for fans of Factory Floor and Ike Yard.
