There’s nothing like good storytelling; after all, it’s why we’re so drawn to books and movies. As important as it is to have good dialogue in order to engage the audience, sometimes facial expressions and body language is all you need to convey the thoughts and emotions of the characters. That’s exactly what John Kahrs Oscar-nominated Disney animated short Paperman does beautifully. Using ground-breaking new technology that merges computer-generated and hand-drawn animation techniques, Kahrs tells the story of an attraction that sparks between a man and a woman during a commute, only to have them separated and reunited by fate. It’s a feel-good tale that’s wonderfully timeless and nostalgic.
