CONTRA tv presents Create + Influence Episode 8 – Broken Homme
Joshua Johnson was nervous to be on film, but he’s actually quite a natural. Talking to us after a few days of trade shows and hangovers in NYC, the L.A. bound boot man gave us a few hours of his time before hopping on his flight back home. The charming ex-hockey player tells us about his passion — shoes — specifically, quality 100% leather boots. Taking the advice of a dear friend who gave him the final boot out of a career rut, a few short months in the footwear game has proven to be one of the best decisions Josh has ever made. His friends and his family are among his supporters, and the collection reflects his appreciation, with each pair of shoes by BROKEN HOMME named after someone in his life. Though he’d much rather “make shoes and hand them off to all his friends,” he isn’t exactly allowed to. It’s part of his shtick though. His turn-ons include “hood rat shit, and doing bad things,” which probably involves a mix of bikes and bourbon, but not rum or vodka — he’s allergic. And unless he’s popped a Pepcid AC when he’s on the sauce, you will only increase his nausea if you are any of these: liar, hypocrite, or sloppy drunk. Of course, good times are only to be had when the day’s work is done. “I work as much as possible trying to make sure BROKEN HOMME is going where it needs to,” says Joshua. His “collection” of gray hairs and wrinkles, which he calls wisdom, attest to that.
Thanks Josh!
