Banksy’s Disney Execution

by Lauren Festa   |

Aw look how cute. It’s that lovable Baloo, Mowgli and King Louie of the Apes from Disney classic, The Jungle Book. Except they’re looking rather strange. That’s because this is Disney re-imagined by London graffiti artist Banksy. “Save or Delete Jungle Book” is the title of this work  His Disney execution might seem awful, but it promises to be for a good cause. It’s on the auction block today, as part of an Urban Art sale at Bonhams auction house in London., and is expected to fetch a cool $100,000. Maybe more.

Here’s to a campaign that might actually be effective. Originally commissioned by Greenpeace for a poster campaign in an effort to highlight the problem of deforestation, Banksy transposed the characters onto an image of a devastated forest. But the posters were never circulated due to copyright issues with Disney. See that, after the jump.
