by ThinkCONTRA   |

Directed by Jeff Durkin, “Art As A Weapon” is a documentary that looks at the connection between street art, Buddhism and the struggle for Democracy. They head off to the country of Burma to do the piece which follows the life of a Buddhist monk poet. He’s building a library while the art connection kicks in with Shepard Fairly working on a mural painting. Also making an appearance is Aung San Suu Kyi, a Nobel peace prize winner.

In summary, the video showcases the Buddhist philosophy while showing how powerful art is in the fight for democracy. Art, politics and religion play a huge role and this video depicts it all in Burma.
