Today BULLETT Magazine premieres the new music video for “Axela” by Robert Raimon Roy. In the short film, director Yelena Zhelezov depicts a haunted labyrinth in which one’s search for the other is thwarted by mirage.
The song features Rob’s spine-tingling falsetto above a spacious foundation of motown snaps, cavernous harmonies and acres of melodic bass. Co-produced by Luke Walker and Robert Raimon Roy, “Axela” is the third single and fourth music video from the album Le Tigre Blanc digitally released by Dim Mak Records last month.
Robert Raimon Roy raised the bar for hip-hop and r&b artists with his first music videos “Fur In My Cap” and “Carmencita” in 2009 and 2010. Earning praise from the likes of Kanye West, ?uestlove,Erykah Badu, and Pharrell, he continued to expand beyond his roots as a Florida MC to become a meta-artist capable of subverting any genre. Always rewarding and thought-provoking, his third albumLe Tigre Blanc stretches the boundaries of modern popular music further than most artists dare to imagine.
Yelena Zhelezov is a renowned visual artist who recently met acclaim in the music world for her videos for Julia Holter. Yelena Zhelezov’s performance and installation work has been featured around Los Angeles and internationally, including LACMA, the Hammer Museum, and the National Centre for Contemporary Arts in Russia.
